Lasseter moved onto the developments happening in the Walt Disney Animation Studio. The untitled film, revolving around the idea of the future of aviation, is set to be released April 12, 2019. The clip was an exhilarating rush of flight and sound, with character design reminiscent of the CARS spinoff, PLANES. Lasseter described the studio as “hard at work to re-invent the studio and elevate the storytelling to new heights.”

He began a survey of the upcoming animated films coming from Disney with a brief clip of an as-of-yet untitled movie in the works at Disney Toons Studios. John Lasseter arrived on the Hall D23 stage and began by shooting off some of his iconic Hawaiian tees to lucky audience members. He described the revered animation studios under the Disney brand as “always pushing the envelope of this time-honored medium.” Horn spoke briefly before introducing the master of ceremonies, and Disney Animation and Pixar’s chief creative officer, John Lasseter. “It makes me want to be sure we always deliver the very best films to you,” he said.
